Watching My Son Grow—One Beat at a Time

Standing just offstage, I watch as my son, Hunter, takes his place behind the drum kit. The lights hit his face, the crowd cheers, and for a moment, time slows down. I see him not just as the incredible drummer he is today, but as the little boy who used to sit on the floor, tapping out rhythms on pots and pans. From those early days of discovery to this moment on stage, I’ve had the privilege of watching him grow—both as a musician and as a person. And as his mom and manager, there’s no greater joy than witnessing his journey unfold.
Every show, every performance, every song he plays is another step forward. I see his confidence building with each beat, his passion deepening with every crash of the cymbals. He’s no longer just playing the drums—he’s owning them. His timing is sharper, his stage presence more commanding, and his love for music is stronger than ever. It’s in the way he listens to his bandmates, the way he locks into the groove, and the way he loses himself in the music. I used to wonder if this was just a phase, something he’d outgrow, but now I know—this is who he is. This is what he was meant to do.
As his manager, I handle the logistics, making sure he has the right gigs, the right opportunities, and the right support to keep growing. But as his mother, my job is even bigger—I remind him why he started, encourage him when things get tough, and celebrate every milestone, big or small. Watching him evolve on stage, I see more than just a talented drummer. I see resilience, hard work, and a kid who refuses to let fear or doubt stand in his way. He’s learning lessons that go far beyond music—lessons about dedication, teamwork, and believing in himself.
Tonight, as I watch him play, I know this is just the beginning. His journey is still unfolding, and I can’t wait to see where it takes him. No matter how big the crowd gets or how far his music reaches, I’ll always be standing right here, cheering him on. Because before I’m his manager, I am—and always will be—his biggest fan.
